Board Director Stephen Nachtsheim

Stephen received his BSc degree from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.  He later earned an MS/MBA Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota.  Stephen joined Intel in 1981 as Director of Automation in Santa Clara, California.  He joined Intel Products Group in 1990 and was promoted to Vice President and became the General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa.  Upon his return from Europe in 1994, he held the position of VP/General Manager for the Mobile and Handheld Products Group until he was named Co-Director of Intel Capital.  He was elected Corporate Vice President in 1995 and retired from Intel in August 2001.

Prior to joining Intel, Stephen held a tenured faculty appointment at the University of Minnesota where he ran the Academic/Research Computing Facility operations and taught in the Graduate School of Business.

He holds three U.S. Patents and was a co-founder of Bluetooth.  He is a Trustee at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and received the St. Thomas “Outstanding Alumnus Award” for 2009.  He is on the Board of Directors for Cinequest San Jose Film Festival, on the Walsh Road Disaster Recovery Group, Habitat for Humanity and has coached girls’ basketball and softball, as well as refereed AYSO Soccer for several years.

He lives in Atherton with his wife Jami and daughter.  He serves on the Board’s liaison to the Town of Atherton and is a member of the Board’s Finance Committee.
