Ollie retired in 1997 as a Deputy Fire Chief after serving 39 years with the Menlo Park Fire Protection District. He was promoted and served in every position from firefighter to deputy fire chief, he was the acting fire chief in 1992. After retirement, Ollie worked consulting on fire facilities and with the Menlo Park Police Department as the city disaster preparedness coordinator.
His education has been focused in fire management and municipal administration through San Mateo Community College, University of Santa Clara, State Fire Academy and National Fire Academy. Ollie has a lifetime teaching credential for college level, fire science programs.
He has as served on many boards and commissions, to name a few; College of San Mateo Fire Science Advisory Board Chairperson, San Mateo County Joint Apprenticeship Fire/Medic Chairperson, San Mateo County Fire Chief’s Association - Training Officers Section past president, California Fire Chief’s Association, American National Red Cross Board of Directors, City of Menlo Park Parks and Recreation Commission - past chairperson.
Ollie has lived in Menlo Park for 43 years with his wife Patty. Their children were born and raised here, and attended all the local schools from Oak Knoll through Menlo Atherton High School and now their grandchildren are attending the same schools. |
