This program is a cooperative partnership between college students, the California community colleges, and the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.

The basic training and knowledge gained from this experience will assist aspiring firefighters to achieving a better knowledge of fire department daily operations, training demands, and emergency scene operations. Members of this program attain college credits and training toward their California State Firefighter One certification. Currently the district hosts cadets in our Urban Search & Rescue program and in our Suppression Operations. Cadets are assigned a specific day each week having opportunities to work with all three shifts. Once specific criteria and testing are achieved, cadets will then participate in a 24 hour shift. To date, over 70 past cadets have been hired as professional firefighters for agencies through out California. Menlo Park Fire Protection District has hired over 20 of our past cadets.
