Division Chief Frank Fraone

Frank Fraone is a Redwood City native and began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Woodside Fire District. In 1981 he joined the Menlo Fire District and has risen through the ranks of Firefighter, Driver Operator, Fire Investigator, Captain, Training Officer and currently holds the position of Division Chief. Chief Fraone is currently the chief of operations.

Chief Fraone holds an Associates Degree in Fire Technology from the College of San Mateo and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from California State University at Long Beach. He is certified from the California State Fire Marshals Office as a Fire Officer, Fire Investigator, Public Education Officer, Rescue Systems I & II Instructor, Driver Operator 1A & 1B Instructor and is certified as an Emergency Vehicle Systems Instructor.

Chief Fraone has been a lead Instructor for the College of San Mateo in Fire Technology since 1986. He also teaches Rescue Systems I & II, Rescue Systems Train-the-Trainer, Rescue Specialist courses and Emergency Vehicle Operations.

Chief Fraone is a member of California Task Force Three, the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team which is sponsored by the Menlo Park Fire District. He serves as a Task Force Leader and was deployed to the North Ridge Earthquake, Oklahoma City Bombing and Hurricane Georges. He was also a member of the Incident Support Team for the World Trade Center disaster. Chief Fraone is Chair Person for the FEMA Rescue Operations Committee and a member of the curriculum development team for the FEMA Rescue Specialist course.
