Introduction

The 2004 Annual Report reflects the collective accomplishments of the members of the

Menlo Park Fire Protection District.  We take pride in our motto “Excellence in Service.”
We focus on proactive customer service to the northern California communities of Atherton,
East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and portions of San Mateo County.

Our priorities are Life Safety, Preparedness, Prevention, Medical Services and Fire Protection.  District members stand ready to provide you accident prevention education, disaster preparedness training and emergency response, when you need us.

Menlo Park Fire District

The Menlo Park Fire Protection District encompasses 30 square miles including the Town of Atherton and the cities of East Palo Alto and Menlo Park and nearby areas of San Mateo County. The District has approximately 93,000 residents.

The District is protected by seven fire stations strategically located to serve neighborhoods and communities.

                        . Implemented Automatic Fire Sprinkler protection ordinances in Town of Atherton and City of East Palo Alto.

                        . Instructed classes for all companies in fire inspection and investigation.

                        . Awarded Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant for Smoke Detector Program.

                        . Conducted 2 successful smoke detector install days with community agencies.

                        . Pancake Breakfast/Open House – Raised $8,000 and served 1500 customers.

                        . Developed comprehensive fee and permit schedule under California Fire Code Requirements.
