Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program

It is estimated that over 50% of all residential fires are started by juveniles.  It is important to intervene early with any juvenile that may be showing interest or have experienced fire. The Menlo Park Fire District has certified personnel that can help intervene and provide a proper route of education and resources for juveniles showing interest or having experienced fire.  Please call the Menlo Park Fire Prevention Bureau at 650.688.8425 to speak with a Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist.

Smoke and CO detectors

The Menlo Park Fire District will provide free smoke detectors and/or batteries to those citizens in the district that display a need in their home for early fire detection. If your smoke detector sounds an alarm, leave immediately by following your home evacuation plan.  Please call 650-688-8425 to schedule an appointment for an evaluation and installation of smoke detectors and/or batteries in your home. CO or carbon monoxide detectors will provide early warning if carbon monoxide, a byproduct of combustion, reached levels in your home that can cause illness or death. CO evenly mixes in air, so the detector can be placed anywhere in the home. If your CO detector sounds an alarm, leave your home and make sure it is well ventilated and call the fire department.
