Deputy Chief Don Long

Deputy Chief Don Long began his career with the Menlo Park Fire Protection District in February of 2015. Prior to arriving at the District he had been employed with the City of Merced where his last rank was that of Deputy Chief/Acting Fire Chief. Chief Long’s career also includes time spent with the City of Coalinga and as a seasonal Firefighter with Cal Fire.

Deputy Chief Long holds two associate degrees and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science with concentrations in both Fire Department Administration and Fire Prevention Technology. He has also been awarded the designation of Executive Fire Officer after completing the four year program through the National Fire Academy. Chief Long is confirmed as a Chief Officer through California State Fire Training and is also a certified instructor for various courses. He is qualified in several positions within the California Incident Command Certification System for wildland response and actively deploys as a Strike Team Leader in support of the District and County.

Deputy Chief Long’s responsibilities are evenly split between Administration and Operations.
