Menlo Park Fire District – Motor  Vehicle Accident - East Palo Alto

Firefighters received notification at 8.19 pm tonight for a vehicle accident response after a police pursuit in the City of East Palo Alto. A reported Nissan Ultimata passenger vehicle  occupied by 5 suspects struck a tree at an estimated 70 miles per hour causing significant damage to the vehicle at Oakwood and Bay Road. Upon the arrival of fire personnel at 8.22 pm, all 5 suspects were out of the vehicle and in custody. Of the five, three adults (2 males and 1 female) were determined by Fire Paramedics as having significant injuries consisting of facial and body trauma and internals pains, 1 female minor was determined to have minor injuries. A male adult refused medical treatment. A Level 2 Multi-Casualty Incident was declared by Senior Fire Captain/Paramedic Troy Holt, bringing in 5 Advanced Life Support Paramedic Ambulances and a Supervisor.

Four American Medical Ambulances (AMR) transported all 4 patients to Stanford Hospital. Fire paramedics accompanied the priority "immediate need" patients to the Hospital. A total of 16 Fire personnel responded to this incident, 1 Battalion Commander, 1 Rescue Unit, 1 Ladder Truck and 3 Fire Engines. Two units were taken out of service so paramedics could maintain patient treatment and continuity into the Stanford Trauma Center. This is a law enforcement crime scene and additional information can ONLY be provided by the Police Department and NOT the Fire District.
