The Menlo Park Fire Protection District Fire Board will consider signing a letter of intent and providing a down payment for the purchase of one of the first all-electric Rosenbauer International M91X fire response units in the Nation, at its Tuesday night Fire Board meeting. The meeting starts at 7 pm and will be held at Fire Station 1, located at 300 Middlefield Road.

Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman said, we’ve been working closely with the Rosenbauer Team who has been all over the Bay Area showing this unit to other Fire Agencies, and we have negotiated a letter of intent that adjusts the cost and gives the Board three months to make a decision on the final purchase agreement if we provide a deposit of $200k that then secures us as one of ten agencies in-line to receive the fire response unit in late 2021. The $200k is fully refundable if the Board changes its mind, but that should give us adequate time to provide more information to the Board and community and work with our Apparatus Committee and Mechanics on design and functional issues. Don’t worry, if we purchase the truck, it will be painted red, have a triple redundant power system and be used as a light duty Rescue, instead of a front line pumping Fire Engine and located in the Belle Haven area of Menlo Park along the Bayfront, Bayshore and Dumbarton corridors of the Fire District”.
