Hidden Treasure - 1956 Seagrave Door Logo Found - December 7 2018.pdf
Photograph below – After 44 years, this Menlo Fire apparatus door logo was found behind the sticker of a Volunteer Fire Department located in Idaho. The Juliaetta Fire Department purchased the 1956 Seagrave Engine in 1974 and then sold it back to the Fire District in 2010. It was discovered this week by the Fire Districts Mechanics as they were restoring the Engine – Credit Menlo Fire
Fire Chief Schapelhouman said “The hand painted, gold leafed American Eagle atop the classic Fire Maltese Cross was feared lost in the 1980’s as all these apparatus were sold off. Only sketching’s, a cut out door panel and photographs remained in the Fire Districts archives. The door logo’s on this 1956 Engine are the only known survivors from this unique era of convertible Fire Apparatus. It’s an amazing find of something we thought was gone forever”!
