California Task Force 3 Update – Search Dog Teams Returning From Florida


The 81 Person Bay Area Urban Search and Rescue Task Force is also returning home from Florida with 5 specialized Search and Rescue Dogs.

Three of the Teams Search Dogs are supplied by the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) who stand ready to assist with Disasters locally or Nationally.

(left) Firefighter Ed Martinez has been with SFFD for 22 years and works on Truck 4 with his K9 partner Fritz (age 3).

(center) Firefighter Eli Thomas has been with SFFD for 17 years and works on Engine 25 with his K9 partner Vader (age 5).

(right) Lieutenant Garreth Miller has been with SFFD for 17 years and works on Engine 10 with his K9 partner Vita (age 5).

All of SFFD K9s are found on the streets and/or rescued from shelters and are proud members of Task Force 3
